How do I pre-activate the radio in a pre-owned vehicle?

 

Pre-activation ensures that the customer’s 3-month All Access Trial Subscription begins without interruption once the vehicle sold record is received. To refresh the radio signal, you can either download the SiriusXM Dealer App from the App Store or Google Play and scan the VIN or go online to pre-activate the radio. Find the radio ID by turning to Channel 0 or visiting our online activation help. 

 

How do I pre-activate a SiriusXM demo for a used vehicle on the lot?

 

Pre-activate the pre-owned vehicle radio 48 hours after the vehicle is placed into inventory, or any time prior to delivery. Pre-activation ensures that the customer’s 3-month All Access Trial Subscription begins without interruption once the vehicle sold record is received. Is there a way to easily pre-activate used vehicle radios right on the lot?

 

Download the SiriusXM Dealer App from the App Store or from Google Play then follow these steps:
  • Make sure the radio is on and that the vehicle is outside with a clear view of the sky.
  • For best results, open the app and turn on location services.
  • Choose “Scan VIN,” scan the VIN barcode, then press “send refresh signal now.” Or you can manually enter the radio ID.

It’s that simple — and you can easily repeat the process to refresh more radios. Your customer’s trial does not begin until after the vehicle is sold.

 

Do I need to do anything to pre-activate a new vehicle’s radio?

 

You don’t need to do anything! All new vehicles are factory activated, which means they will arrive on your lot fully functional. The Demo Service will automatically convert to a consumer account with a trial via the Retail Delivery Record process. (Please ensure the RDR is complete with accurate customer contact information, including email address.) If a vehicle radio is not working, follow the pre-owned activation instructions above.
